“Think Easy, Light, Smooth, and Fast. You start with easy, because if that’s all you get, that’s not so bad. Then work on light. Make it effortless, like you don’t give a shit how high the hill is or how far you’ve got to go. When you’ve practiced that so long that you forget you’re practicing, you work on making it smooooooth. You won’t have to worry about the last one – you get those three, and you’ll be fast.” My favorite quote from Born to Run, and my mantra last year for my ultra, so this is the perfect DVD to put on while I get ready for tomorrow’s race. #running #movie #caballoblanco #runfree #borntorun #raramuri #ultrarunning #bulldog50k #teamnuun #furtherfasterforever #instarunners #maurrunning

Movie night last night with the run fam. Catching Run Free: The True Story of Caballo Blanco. Definitely a must see if you enjoyed the book Born to Run, but also if you love running or stories of a selfless free spirit. #runnersnotrunning #running #trail #movie #caballoblanco #micahtrue #rip #borntorun #tarahumara #raramuri #ultrarunning #ultramarathon #longbeach #arttheater (at Long Beach Art Theater)

“You start with easy, because if that’s all you get, that’s not so bad”

Easy, light, smooth has been a mantra I’ve called upon during many training runs and races ever since reading Born to Run. It’s a reminder to maintain a consistent sustainable effort during those long runs and that fast will come with consistency.

I’m really looking forward to watching Run Free: The True Story of Caballo Blanco tonight.
