It was only mid-october yet it was 30°F which was definitely freezing for a California boy like myself. Eight months down in 2016 and while my overall mileage is short in comparison to this point last year, I’ve hit my 100 miles/month goal for the eighth straight month. Left So Cal around 9:30PM yesterday and made the 7 hour drive up north. Passed San Francisco, where I am slated to run in a few hours, and headed for Windsor to the start of #imvineman. Generally one should rest before a race but it was well worth it to be able to see some friends off and cheer them on during the first part of their amazing journey. Even though I couldn’t stick around to see them finish, I was so proud and inspired by them and everyone who toed the line this morning. I’ve been saying I’m going to do a triathlon, but I think this is just what I needed to spark that fire. Congrats to everyone who finished today. I don’t normally selfie like this, but I didn’t bring my Go Pro and I was really happy with this run. I really didn’t want to get up to run this morning. Even sitting in the car in the parking lot I wanted to just relax for the day. Once I saw my run fam getting together as we do on Sat morning and getting a mile under me, I just decided to run. No particular route or distance in mind. I just knew I wanted some hills. 14 miles and 1000+ elevation gain later I had run all over the Newport Beach hills.
